Summary Description:
Key responsibilities are to architect and design large scale, high volume, transaction processing and analytical data systems & solutions. This position leads/participates in defining Data Architecture Standards & Guidelines and the selection of Data Maintenance Tools for use across the organization.

Responsibilities include providing prototypes, data architecture & design consultation and mentoring in all phases of the project lifecycle.

Essential Resource Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
Level I
- Leads data architecture & design that drives development of large scale, high volume, transaction processing and analytical data systems & solutions
- Collaboratively participates in the definition of the Data Architecture Standards & Guidelines by creating, communicating and promoting standards, methods and practice across the organization
- Collaboratively participates in the selection/assessment of data management tools, and the development of standards, usage guidelines and procedures for those tools
- Provides architecture & design, consultation and mentoring on Data solutions in all phases of planning, development, implementation and maintenance
- Participates in prototype development to proof new Data solutions, new Data and ETL technology
- Performs the job functions of the data modeler identifies and organizes the required data logically and physically
- Creates and maintains the Enterprise Data Object Reuse Inventory including database/ETL object components
- Assists in the development of overall project plans and timelines
- Populates and maintains technical metadata repositories and related documentation
- Produces detailed design documents from high-level requirements and functional specifications

Minimum Resource Qualifications:
Level I
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or relevant field
- Demonstrated expertise in the architecture, design and development of large scale, large volume, transaction processing and analytical data systems & solutions
- In-depth knowledge, expertise in database internals, data structures, principles and tuning strategies
- Experience in SQL programming including advanced queries, stored procedures and triggers in two of the following database technologies: DB2, Oracle or SQL Server
- Experience with Entity-Relationship and advanced Dimensional modeling (ERWin Data Modeler)
- Experience with two of the following: ETL Architecture & Tools (Informatica PowerCenter or equivalent), Data Maintenance Tools (Java or equivalent) and Business Intelligence/Reporting Tools (Cognos or equivalent)
- Ability to analyze problems, sort through complex issues, provide a comparative analysis of alternatives and solution recommendations
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively to management and peers, both written and verbal
