Duration : Contract Job Description : Required Skills : - Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- ability to train users in database administration fundamentals and to write basic documentation.
- Strong Understanding of T-SQL code and basic commands/syntax.
- Strong Familiarity with troubleshooting methodologies to isolate and identify configuration, design, and database behavior anomalies;
- ability to clearly articulate findings in written and
- verbal communications with peers and outside support engineers.
- Solid Familiarity with monitoring tools and concepts and the ability to fine tune necessary alerting thresholds (Certified in Splunk and App Dynamics)
- Strong Familiarity with most basic administration tools and processes; for example, ability to identify DB Blocking/Root Cause, add and remove DB User Permissions, Use SQL
- Management Studio/Query Analyzer to view active DB transactions, Read and understand SQL Error logs.
- Familiarity with Incident Management and ITIL practices.
- Solid Understanding distinctions between DB system and user process, DML and DDL.
- Strong Familiarity with the basic Linux and Windows administrative tools (i.e., access system error logs)
- Works well alone or on a team
- Ability to support after hours and on-call rotation (including weekends)
Required Background - Three to Five years of experience supporting multiple high-transaction SQL Server/Oracle environments.
